Brian J. Stefanich is a civil litigation attorney with a focus on civil rights actions in which he defends police officers against claims of misconduct. In addition to his civil rights practice, Mr. Stefanich has substantial experience in commercial litigation including the areas of class action litigation, insurance coverage actions, and commercial lending disputes. Prior to joining Hale & Monico, Mr. Stefanich served as an assistant Special State’s Attorney where he represented the People of the State of Illinois in post-conviction matters stemming from allegations of constitutional violations. In this role, Mr. Stefanich gained considerable experience in cases filed under the Illinois Post-Conviction Hearing Act and the Illinois Torture Inquiry and Relief Commission Act, as well as valuable appellate advocacy experience.
